Responsible for the nursing care of patients according to their scope of practice in liaison with Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals.• Female candidates with minimum 5 years of experience in Maternity or combined with Maternity and Surgical • Graduate of Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing. • Midwifery Diploma preferred but not required. • License to practice nursing in Kuwait. • Yearly unit and divisional competency review. • Maintains certification of BCLS, NRP. • Able to communicate both written and oral English, Arabic language skills desired but not required. • Uses the nursing process to provide safe patient care. • Competent in general and unit specific skills necessary to provide patient care. • Administers medications safely and according to policies, procedures and division competencies • Able to assess and monitor newborn, postpartum and medical/surgical patients. • Proficient in identifying and dealing with obstetrical emergencies. • Proficient in operating equipment required for patient care. • Proficient in adult and neonatal resuscitation. • Assists Registrars, Anesthesiologists, and Consultants with assessments and procedures. • Assists with activities of daily living of newborn, postpartum and medical/ surgical patients. • Prepares, maintains, transports and cleans equipment required for nursing care of patients. • Documents according to hospital policy. • Assists with transport of patients to other areas in hospital. • Transports specimens to and from laboratory. • Transports prescriptions and medications to and from pharmacy. • Assists with maintenance of required supplies. • Maintains a clean and safe environment for Inpatient area. • Provides for patient and family psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs. • Acts in a professional and responsible manner. • Prepares parents and family for discharge with appropriate departmental support and health education. • Participates in nursing division continuing education program. • Participates in patient education. • Participates in hospital quality assurance and patient safety program. • Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job, as assigned by the immediate superior.
