Responsibilities and duties:
Take report from outgoing shift at the end of the shift.
Check all patients with the previous shift nurse.
Provide direct care to assigned patients.
Take the nursing history, summarize data, and state nursing diagnoses/patient care needs.
Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including the
physiological status of patients;
Be familiar with using all technological equipments in the Hospital ( intensive care unit as mechanical ventilator, cardiac monitor, infusion pumps, defibrillator, IABP, pace maker …etc).
Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are
consistent with the stated medical plan of care.
Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and assist
others with patient’s activities and care.
Execute physician’s orders for all assigned patients; safely and
properly administer medications and treatments.
Perform or assist others to perform proper aseptic techniques,
isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
Document nursing care in all assigned patient records.
Maintain patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and
records at all times.
Evaluate care given including the patient response.
Demonstrate ability to assess patient’s understanding of and
compliance with instructions and health care teaching.
Establish special clinical pathways with the collaboration of
Education Department to manage specific conditions in the unit.
Know the following protocols:
– Disaster Policy.
– Code blue policy.
– Fire safety policy.
– Infection control policies.
Communication and Interpersonal skills:
Follow the proper channels of communication according to the
department organizational chart.
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Maintain professional appearance and dress code.
Wear Identification badge when working.
Comply with guidelines for absence or tardiness.
Must be innovative and have critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
B.S.N, Technical institute of nursing .
1-3 years experience is preferred.
Must be registered with the Egyptian Syndicate of Nurses
