Job Description The Registered Nurse – Endoscopy provides exceptional patient care, psychological and physical during Endoscopy procedures according to the doctor’s orders and hospital’s policies

The Registered Nurse – Endoscopy will also provide professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients.

Requirements Requirements – Licensing & Education:
•Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Nursing (minimum of 3 years duration) from a recognised Nursing Institute.
•Current license as a Registered Nurse (in home country and in current country of residence)
•Post graduate diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing Science (preferred)

Specialized Skills/Abilities/Experience Required
•At least 3 years’ experience as Endoscopy Nurse
•Two years previous experience in a Recovery Unit
•Trained in Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support and Basic Life Support (advantageous for recovery room position)
•Minimum of two years operating theatre nursing experience after graduation; preferably in a private hospital
•Ability to deliver advanced nursing care in complex situations.
•Ability to stand for extended periods
•Possess fine motor skills
•Possess visual acuity
•Ability to observe, monitor, assess, report and document the anaesthetized patient’s response to treatment
•Able to monitor and adjust medical equipment in use.
•Ability to provide emotional and psychological support to parents and families.

Key Outputs •Ensure a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Endoscopy Unit, working within company policies and procedures.
•Provide technical assistance during diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures, ensuring safe working practice.
•Set, monitor and maintain excellent standards of nursing care.
•Record all patient care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
•Prep operating rooms for patients/procedures
•Maintaining personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.
•Maintaining timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is highly maintained and respected.
•Store, check and administer drugs in accordance with established standards and guidelines
•Work with minimal supervision during endoscopic procedures, admission and recovery of patients and other related procedures
•Contribute to the local resolution, investigation and follow up action of any informal or formal complaints.
•Participate in the care and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialized equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination at all times including accurate records of traceability of all endoscopes and associated equipment.
•Ensure the safe discharge of all patients from the Endoscopy unit.
•Maintain a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with established standards and regulations
•Report any unusual occurrences to charge personnel; document these occurrences appropriately in the patient record, and complete Hospital Incident Reports form if indicated.
•Care for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies and procedures.
•Utilize program of pre and post-operative visits to facilitate knowledge of patient, condition, and needs.
•Administered conscious sedation and monitored patient during endoscopies and other minor procedures
•Pre-oped patients for endoscopy procedures and other minor surgical procedures
•Recover patients after conscious sedation
•Assist in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis.
•Be available for on –call for emergencies, available for additional duty as required.
•Assume accountability and responsibility for own work performance and those under his or her supervision
