Job Description

The Senior Registered Nurse is a member of the clinical team and is responsible for providing nursing leadership within the unit and in assisting in the achievement of service goals in accordance with Mediclinic City Hospital directions. The Senior Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering competent, quality nursing care at an advanced level; and in the guiding and supporting of other nursing staff.

Requirements Licensing & Education:

Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Nursing (minimum of 3 years duration) from a recognized Nursing Institute.
Current license as a Registered Nurse (in home country and in current country of residence)
Certificate or Diploma in advanced practice (preferred)

Demonstrated ability to deliver quality patient care in the designated ward/unit
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement for better health outcomes
Fluency in written and spoken English (Arabic language skills are well regarded)
High level of verbal and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated competence in working autonomously as required
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Good computer literacy
Ability to function effectively under pressure
Ability to promote excellence in patient care through mentoring and quality management
Ability to lead and manage teams

Key Outputs

Use clinical expertise and knowledge of adult learning principles, to provide leadership and mentoring to support staff members from beginning practitioner to advanced practitioner in nursing
Deputise for the Unit Manager in their absence
Undertake a leadership role in the unit by leading, or being involved in, Quality Improvement initiatives and projects
In collaboration with the Unit Manager help monitor the expenditure in the unit, in particular consumables and medications
Undertake audits and write up reports
Work collaboratively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes, whilst maintain confidentiality
Ensure coordinated continuum of care for the patients, incorporating the patient and their family in decision making
Effectively advocate for the patient and escalate any problems or changes in the patient condition.
Participate in evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement
Work within your scope of practice as dictated by the licensing body
Ensures compliance with documentation requirements, as set out in Hospital Policies
